A few years back I wrote an essay on bias in the media for the Reno News & Review, and (somewhat surprisingly) it's still available online and (even more surprisingly) I think it still holds up fairly well, despite being a bit long-winded.
Bottom line: I think there's nothing wrong with Fox News having a conservative bias or NPR having a liberal bias. In fact, I'm kind of fascinated by the different ways liberal and conservative biases are manifest in different media neighborhoods. Here's a link to the piece:
